Job Title: Certified Central Sterile Processing Technician (CSPT)
Location: Sitka, Alaska (Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital SEARHC)
Start Date: 06/08/2026
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Rotating (Tue Fri, 6:00 AM 4:00 PM & 8:00 AM 6:00 PM) + On-call (including weekends)
Pay Rate: $40 to $42/HR
Guaranteed Hours: 40/week

Job Overview

We are seeking a Certified Central Sterile Processing Technician (CSPT) to join a healthcare team in Sitka, AK. The technician will be responsible for the complete sterile processing cycle, ensuring all surgical instruments and medical equipment are properly decontaminated, sterilized, and ready for patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Perform decontamination, cleaning, sterilization, and packaging of surgical instruments and equipment
Disassemble instruments thoroughly to remove debris and bioburden
Operate sterilization equipment including autoclaves
Follow AAMI standards, manufacturer guidelines, and facility policies
Monitor and document sterilization processes, including biological indicators
Maintain accurate sterilization and quality assurance records
Troubleshoot instrument shortages and coordinate alternatives with clinical staff
Inspect equipment functionality and coordinate repairs/replacements
Assist with inventory management, stocking, and supply ordering
Support training and competency validation of team members

Requirements

Certification Required: CBSPD or HSPA (Sterile Processing Certification)
BLS Certification (Active)
Experience: Minimum 1 year in a healthcare or sterile processing setting preferred
Flu Vaccine required

Skills & Qualifications

Knowledge of infection control and sterile techniques
Familiarity with surgical instruments and reprocessing
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Effective communication and teamwork
Basic computer proficiency

Additional Details

Start date will be at least 5 weeks after fingerprinting clearance
Must reside 50+ miles from facility (Traveler requirement)
No housing, flights, or travel reimbursement provided
On-call pay: $4/hr | Callback: 2-hour minimum
Overtime: After 40 hrs/week
