Server (Bartending Experience a Plus) — Ladybird NYC

Overthrow Hospitality is currently seeking an experienced Server to join the team at Ladybird, our vibrant tapas and wine bar in the heart of the East Village.

Opened in 2016, Ladybird helped redefine small plates dining in New York City by creating a space where thoughtful hospitality, creative cocktails, natural wine, and shareable vegetable-driven cuisine all come together in a lively, beautifully designed setting. Part of the award-winning Overthrow Hospitality group, Ladybird has become known as one of NYC’s most beloved plant-based dining destinations — welcoming both longtime vegans and curious omnivores alike through warm, inclusive hospitality and genuinely memorable guest experiences.

We are looking for hospitality professionals who are warm, emotionally intelligent, organized, and genuinely excited about taking care of people. The ideal candidate understands that great service is not transactional — it’s about creating an atmosphere guests want to return to.

While this is primarily a server position, bartending experience is a major plus. Team members who are comfortable working both service and bar shifts generally have access to more scheduling opportunities and greater flexibility across the team as business needs evolve.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced hospitality environments, values teamwork, and has a strong interest in food, beverage, wine, cocktails, and guest experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the dining room for service including polishing glassware, setting tables, stocking stations, and maintaining cleanliness
• Attend pre-shift meetings and stay informed on menu changes, beverage features, and service updates
• Guide guests through food, wine, cocktail, and non-alcoholic beverage offerings with confidence and enthusiasm
• Provide attentive, intuitive hospitality throughout the guest experience
• Maintain strong communication with kitchen, bar, hosts, and management during service
• Accurately enter orders into POS systems and ensure timing and pacing of courses
• Assist teammates wherever necessary to maintain smooth service flow
• Perform opening and closing side work thoroughly and consistently
• Help cultivate a positive, respectful, and collaborative workplace culture

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in an upscale, hospitality-driven, or high-volume restaurant environment
• Bartending experience strongly preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Passion for hospitality, food, beverage, and guest experience
• Interest in wine, cocktails, and restaurant culture
• Calm under pressure with strong multitasking abilities
• Professional, polished, and team-oriented demeanor
• Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to stand and move for extended periods during service
