Job Description

job summary:
A Manufacturing Engineer is needed for one of the world's largest suppliers of aerospace and defense products in the Bohemia, NY area. This role requires a self-starting engineer with aerospace experience to lead manufacturing optimization through tool design, NPI build planning, and the application of PFMEA and SolidWorks to improve production yield and cost-efficiency.

responsibilities:

• Solve technical challenges within manufacturing, assembly, and testing environments to ensure operational success.

• Implement cost-saving and process improvement initiatives across assigned product lines.

• Collaborate with design engineering to enhance the manufacturability of new and existing products.

• Develop efficient production workflows, determine optimal sequencing, and support facility layouts.

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and analyze cost factors for proposed manufacturing projects.

• Design and 3D print specialized tools, fixtures, and gauges using SolidWorks to improve processes and safety.

• Create comprehensive assembly work instructions and develop operator guides for laser printing processes.

• Utilize RTX-Lifecycle-Program-Management (RLPM) to develop build plans for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.

• Develop and maintain accurate production routers and detailed Bills of Materials (BOM).

• Partner with quality teams and external suppliers to resolve technical issues and quality discrepancies.

Skills:

• Proficient in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)

• Experience in fast paced and/or highly regulated aerospace or space manufacturing environments.

• Experience supporting machine operations, including fixture/tool design, tool life management, routing/work instructions, and CNC programming familiarity.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve operational goals.

• strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Effective technical communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.

• Self-starter mindset with ability to work autonomously and lead complex manufacturing initiatives.
