The Indiana University School of Dentistry has been advancing oral health in the state and beyond since 1879, when it was founded as the Indiana Dental College. Over the past 140 years, we've become a national leader in preparing oral health professionals, conducting innovative research that has an impact on patients and the profession, and providing patient-centered care.

The Department of Comprehensive Care and Allied Professions at the Indiana University (IU) School of Dentistry consists of the divisions of Comprehensive Care, Allied Professions, and Operative Dentistry. These divisions work hand in hand to meet our community's oral health needs by coupling the latest in innovative techniques and pedagogical expertise with student instruction and clinical patient care.

Job Summary

  • Supervises daily activities of patient care services staff and business operation functions.
  • Assists in establishing schedules and assigns work.
  • Recommends various personnel actions, including but not limited to recruiting, interviewing, selection, hiring, other training, and discipline actions of clinic.
  • Manages patient check-in and check-out, centralized scheduling, revenue processing, insurance processing, maintenance of patient records, and compliant use of practice management software.
  • Resolves patient care issues.
  • Serves as the primary liaison for clinic staff, building operations, faculty and student clinic scheduling and patient communication with clinic leadership.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).

Preferred

  • Associate's degree in Medical Administration, business, or closely related field.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 4 years of experience in a medical office or related setting.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

$19.50-$22.44 per hour based on experience
